Learn how to live better with COPD, asthma and other lung diseases.

Sponsored by the American Lung Association, Better Breathers Club meetings provide education and support to those with chronic lung disease such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Meetings are FREE and open to anyone interested in learning more about chronic lung disease or breathing disorders. Caregivers and family members are also welcome. 

Bring your questions about COPD, asthma and other lung disorders to be discussed and answered by Jim Braley, RRT.

Jim Braley, RRT is a respiratory therapist with more than 40 years experience in various clinical settings. He is currently the Novato Community Hospital manager of respiratory care services and has been a certified American Lung Association Better Breather Group facilitator for six years.

Pediatric CPR AED and First Aid for Child Care Providers

Course Description: This specialized eight-hour AHA HeartSaver Course is for the child care professional and helps those who are responsible for children's health manage illnesses and injuries until first responders arrive, including asthma. Meets Community Care Licensing requirements for daycare homes and centers.

Course Audience: Child care professionals, after-school care providers, elementary school teachers, nannies and parents.

Course Audience: Healthcare professionals and other personnel who require American Heart Association BLS certification, or who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic life support skills.

Sep 12    Medic First Aid CPR and AED Training

Course Description: This course goes a step beyond basic CPR. In this four-hour class, students will learn information and skills to provide effective emergency care to an injured or ill person before first responders arrive. The workplace is the focus, using industrial and office settings for the scenario-based learning environment. CPR, plus other lifesaving skills including bleeding control, choke saving, hazardous conditions awareness, and an introduction to the AED. Each students receives a manual, instruction, mannequin use and Medic First Aid card valid for two years.

Course Audience:   The class-of-choice for non-medical people, this class is the perfect course for any individual who would like to be prepared to respond to a cardiac emergency, anytime and anywhere. Great for on-site training for employees who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency due to job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

Exploring Sites Associated with Petaluma’s Suffrage Movement 
 
Petaluma Woman’s Club presents PWC Speaker Series 2020: Conversations With Women Leaders in Our Community.  The free, online Zoom is on September 15 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and is co-sponsored by Village Network of Petaluma and Mahoney Architects + Interiors.
 
Join local historian and author of Petaluma A History in Architecture, Katherine J. Rinehart, as she takes us on a visual tour of sites where suffragists gathered to learn about and plan for their involvement in two political campaigns focused on securing voting rights for California women in 1896 and 1911.
