Jan 21 Get To Know the Village |
The Village Network of Petaluma (and Penngrove) is responding to the pandemic by creating new ways for members and volunteers to connect with each other, build new friendships, and offer mutual support as we navigate opportunities and realities in this historic time. Village membership now offers online wellness programs, interest groups, educational webinars, and social events - as well as volunteer services including grocery shopping, prescription pick-ups, phone friends, computer help by Zoom, and customized referrals to community resources. When the shelter-in-place orders allow, we will gradually resume offering our usual in-person programs such as driving, friendly visits, minor home repairs, and Med Pals. This is an online or phone meeting for potential members (ages 50+), their adult children, and those interested in volunteering (any age). The Village Network of Petaluma is a non-profit membership organization created to empower adults 50+ to live active, vibrant, and connected lives in our own homes as we age. We are part of a national movement, with 250+ groups formed since 2004. |

Jan 21 Spark Your Inspiration for 2021 |
The Village Network of Petaluma kicks off the new year with a workshop on the pursuit and cultivation of inspiration: Presented online via Zoom and led by author Elad Levinson and based on his book Inspire Me! “Inspiration comes in many flavors and colors: It can be as small and personal as seeing something anew, or as big and collective as understanding the scope of the times we live in” says Levinson. Inspiration, he assures us, is natural to all of us, but we must cultivate it. Using Inspire Me! as the source for this workshop, Levinson will explore the science and art of cultivating inspiration, introduce skills and tools to help attendees’ spark their own inspiration, and guide them in their practice going forward. Levinson asks: “What inspires you? Who Inspired you? How do you get yourself into a mindset to be inspired?” He hopes your answers will shape and contribute to your future story. Levinson has 50 years of experience as a psychotherapist, a leader in organization effectiveness, and an executive coach. His areas of expertise include applied neuroscience and mindfulness practices. His book Inspire Me! can be downloaded for free at https://www.eladlevinson.com. He asks only that readers donate what they can to the Village Network of Petaluma for this event. The Village Network is a nonprofit membership organization of older adults ages 50+ in the Petaluma and Penngrove area. Members and volunteers of all ages share their talents, interests, support, fun, and friendship to improve quality of life and expand our choices. |
