SUMMARY:'First Thursday' - Labor Law Q&A Sessions for Employers
DESCRIPTION:BAN THE BOX: ARE EMPLOYERS BEING BOXED IN?\n\nEffective January 1\, 2018\, California employers are prohibited from making any inquiries about an applicant's criminal record or conviction history before making a conditional offer of employment.\n\n \n\nWhile employers are required to provide a safe workplace\, new laws restrict the ability of employers to exclude criminals from the workplace.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis ongoing seminar series is being conducted by veteran Petaluma labor & employment attorney\, Jay Putnam. Putnam\, has advised employers exclusively\, in labor matters for over 36 years. He hopes to provide local business owners and managers with a solid\, working understanding of California labor law\, as a means of helping them avoid the often crippling cost and disruption caused by lawsuits resulting from a misunderstanding of applicable legal requirements.\n\n\n\nMembers are encouraged to bring their questions. Putnam says he intends to conduct the seminars as "informal\, working sessions\, where people can bring their lunch and their questions and leave each month with important information that will immediately improve their business operations.\n\n\n\n\n\nTo Register:\n\nhttp://cmdev.petalumachamber.biz/events/details/first-thursday-labor-law-seminar-series-11-02-2017-5753\n\n\n\nQuestions?
