DESCRIPTION:LEAVES OF ABSENCE: TIME BOMB FOR EMPLOYERS\n\nCalifornia has enacted several new laws in recent years that greatly expand the legal obligations employers have to employees who request time off from work.\n\n \n\nMany experts agree that these laws (which number 16 at present) have made leaves of absence the most complicated category of California labor and employment law.\n\n \n\nEmployers who are presented with a request for time off must\, before granting or denying the request\, determine which laws apply to the request\, and what legal obligations are imposed on the employer by each.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis ongoing seminar series is being conducted by veteran Petaluma labor & employment attorney\, Jay Putnam. Putnam\, has advised employers exclusively\, in labor matters for over 36 years. He hopes to provide local business owners and managers with a solid\, working understanding of California labor law\, as a means of helping them avoid the often crippling cost and disruption caused by lawsuits resulting from a misunderstanding of applicable legal requirements.\n\n\n\nMembers are encouraged to bring their questions.
