SUMMARY:'First Thursday' - Labor Law Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:DATE RESCHEDULED TO MARCH 17!!!\n\n"Employment Terminations Without Legal Exposure"\n\n \n\nNo employer likes to terminate employees. Unfortunately\, many employers delay taking action even when they recognize a termination is inevitable\, which often complicates their legal defense in the event of a lawsuit. This is because\, the longer an employee's tenure of employment\, the more rights he/she has to challenge a termination\, especially if the employer (or any supervisor) seemed to overlook infractions similar to those ultimately causing the termination. \n\n \n\nWhen terminations become necessary\, how can they be accomplished without legal exposure for wrongful termination\, discrimination\, retaliation and/or harassment?\n\n \n\nThis ongoing seminar series is being conducted by veteran Petaluma labor & employment attorney\, Jay Putnam. Putnam\, has advised employers exclusively\, in labor matters for almost 35 years. He hopes to provide local business owners and managers with a solid\, working understanding of California labor law\, as a means of helping them avoid the often crippling cost and disruption caused by lawsuits resulting from a misunderstanding of applicable legal requirements.\n\n\n\nMembers are encouraged to bring their questions. Putnam says he intends to conduct the seminars as "informal\, working sessions\, where people can bring their lunch and their questions and leave each month with important information that will immediately improve their business operations."\n\n \n\n To register\, please email the Chamber at pacc@petalumachamber.com\, or call 707.762.2785
