SUMMARY:The Gift Invitational: Ceramics of Sonoma County
DESCRIPTION:VENUE: Gregory Roberts StudioC2\n\nEVENT: Artist Reception: Saturday December 12th\, 5 - 8 PM\n\n \nThe Gift Invitational: Ceramics of Sonoma County\nExhibition Dates: ?Dec. 10 Jan. 10\n\n \n\nHandmade in Sonoma County: Ceramic Artists Gather for Holiday Showcase\n\n \n\nFrom December 10th through January 10th\, twelve of Sonoma County's premier ceramic artists will assemble to have their work on display at the newly opened StudioC2 gallery in Petaluma. \n\n \n\nThe available collections will range from functional dinnerware to jewelry to contemporary sculpture\, showcasing the versatility of ceramics as a material.\n\n \n\n"We're so lucky to have a number of nationally recognized ceramic artists working in Sonoma County\, and this show is a great opportunity to find their incredibly diverse works gathered under one roof. Earthy stoneware to fine porcelain\, it runs the gamut\," said Petaluma-based potter Fran oise LeClerc. "For collectors and people looking for holiday gifts that can't be found anywhere else\, this should be a first stop. And as with most handmade goods\, there's just no substitute for seeing and handling the objects in person."\n\n The artists represent an eclectic cross-section of North Bay ceramicists\, both established and emerging. Gallery owner Gregory Roberts explains\, "The Gift Invitational show was devised on the "artist invites artist" model. I chose a core group of artists who have a connection to Petaluma and Sonoma County. They\, in turn\, invited two artists with whom they have an affiliation."\n\n \n\nAll participants are showing work that is accessible\, in size and price\, for the Sonoma County community. "Especially in the Bay Area\, I think we're seeing a real shift towards thoughtful\, locally-made gifts for the holidays. I'm not interested in mass produced goods and stuff you can find in any big box store\," said local shopper Julia Rubin\, "I'm looking for uniqueness and quality."\n\nAbout StudioC2 Gallery: \n\n \n\nFounded by sculptor and Sonoma State University professor Gregory Roberts\, StudioC2's mission is to bring the highest quality ceramic work to Sonoma County\, with a series of solo exhibitions throughout the year. The Gift Invitational show (December 10-January 10) will provide a glimpse of the artists who will be showing at StudioC2 in the months to come. \n\n \n\n "I hope that StudioC2 becomes a vibrant addition to the North Bay art scene by bringing new artists to light and inspiring the next generation of collectors."\n\n \n\nThe gallery is open from 11am to 5pm Thursday through Saturday\, and by appointment.\n\n***********\n\nParticipating Artists:\n\n \n\nForrest Lesch-Middleton\n\nWyatt Amend\n\nBambi Waterman\n\nKala Stein\n\nSarah Brown\n\nShenny Cruces \n\nBill Geisinger\n\nFran oise LeClerc\n\nJoel Bennett\n\nTiffany Schmierer\n\nJennifer Brazelton\n\nJess Carter\n\n\nGregory Roberts
