'First Thursday' - Labor Law Q&A Series
EVENT CANCELLED
URGENT: January 1, 2020 Deadline for Arbitration Policies
On October 10, Governor Newsom signed AB 51, which makes it unlawful to require existing or new
employees to arbitrate workplace disputes after January 1, 2020. Employees already bound to legally enforceable arbitration agreements prior to January 1 are not affected by the new law. Employers are
encouraged to be sure any arbitration policy not revised within the last six months be updated, and
distributed to existing employees prior to the deadline. DO NOT MISS THIS DEADLINE!
This ongoing seminar series is being conducted by veteran Petaluma labor & employment attorney, Jay Putnam. Putnam, has advised employers exclusively, in labor matters for over 38 years. He hopes to provide local business owners and managers with a solid, working understanding of California labor law, as a means of helping them avoid the often crippling cost and disruption caused by lawsuits resulting from a misunderstanding of applicable legal requirements.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions. Putnam says he intends to conduct the seminars as "informal," working sessions, where people can bring their questions and leave each month with important information that will immediately improve their business operations.
