Where Women Made History:
Exploring Sites Associated with Petaluma’s Suffrage Movement
Petaluma Woman’s Club presents PWC Speaker Series 2020: Conversations With Women Leaders in Our Community. The free, online Zoom is on September 15 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and is co-sponsored by Village Network of Petaluma and Mahoney Architects + Interiors.
Join local historian and author of Petaluma A History in Architecture, Katherine J. Rinehart, as she takes us on a visual tour of sites where suffragists gathered to learn about and plan for their involvement in two political campaigns focused on securing voting rights for California women in 1896 and 1911.
Katherine will present the history and architecture of several “suffrage sites”, discuss her research strategies and share some surprising discoveries made while assisting in the curation of the Petaluma Historical Museum’s current exhibit on women’s suffrage https://www.petalumamuseum.com/petalumas-participation-in-the-womens-suffrage-movement/
